Optional integrations

Silt's main application API is MongoClient from @silt-db/mongodb. It works standalone over local SQLite in Node and Expo; it does not require ShareDB, Teamplay, or StartupJS. Start with the quick start or Expo guide.

These integrations serve applications that already use their protocols and APIs:

IntegrationWhen to use it
ShareDB adapterPersist ShareDB snapshots and operation history, with SQL queries and live aggregation dependencies.
TeamplayUse Teamplay document/query subscriptions and named aggregations with a Silt-backed ShareDB backend.
StartupJS and framework providersApply the repository's pinned, unpublished framework patches for the Teamplay backend and SQL/BLOB file storage.
Browser ownership and Teamplay tabsCoordinate one Expo SQLite owner across browser tabs in the tested Teamplay topology.

Mongo and core engine APIs share ordinary document collections. ShareDB snapshots and operations use separate tables and must be changed through ShareDB's operation protocol. Custom SQL/BLOB tables are also separate. Mongo dropDatabase() removes ordinary collections and indexes while preserving those other tables and the SQLite file. See shared server ownership and the engine reference for coordinator details.

These integrations do not provide automatic offline-to-server synchronization. Silt implements a supported subset of the MongoDB JavaScript API, without MongoDB's wire protocol; compatibility with arbitrary libraries built on the official driver is not implied. Check the API reference and each integration's recorded verification scope before using it in an application.
